In episode #5, we are still hovering around the year 70 BCE and, as such, there isn’t much to say about Caesar himself, as not a lot is known about this period of this life. However, we do know a lot about one of his closest friends, colleague and eventual rival – Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, aka Pompey, so today we talk a lot about his rise to power, and compare him to Caesar and Crassus, who also became consul at the same time as Pompey. We also talk about Servilia, Caesar’s life-long mistress and the mother of Marcus Junius Brutus, another important character in Caesar’s story.
